Why do so many people have such a hard time with these words? I mean, you don't have "less cars" or "less coins" - you have "fewer." You have less water or less air. Get it? And "loose" means to "let loose" or "the knot is loose" -- you don't "loose weight" -- you "lose weight."

Anybody else have grammar pet peeves that piss you off?

Mostly misspellings.

Actual postings on yahoo answers:

"I've been their" (instead of there);
"His nice" (for: he's nice);
"I dont no" (Can accept the missing apostrophe but please, it is "know" argh!)

I absolutely HATE it when people say "I should of done it". And the other thing that drives me crazy is pluralizing "you" with an s. As in "yous can have it, I have had sufficient".

Oh, and all the other things you mention, and all the things the other respondents mention also drive me nuts. Perhaps I am just easily irritated, but I do think that unless we uphold our language and its values, then we are doomed forever to talk like half-wits, and write like very young schoolchildren.

Yeah. Writing in this forum as though they were illiterate using 4 for "for", ur for your, c for see, cuz for because, dun for done, and the list goes on and on. Writing run-on sentences that make absolutely no sense then giving thumbs down to people who dare to ask what they actually want.
This is not the same type of people that were here when I joined this a year ago. People now are rude, crude and ignorant.
