i own a repair shop, and its been so cold in some places here lately that even brand new ones on the car lots wont start, its just the cold weather causing this to happen, when a battery gets cold it drains the power from it,and makes it real hard to start a car, everything acts up when its cold, there's probably nothing wrong with it,just the extreme cold getting to it,the only way to avoid this is park it in a garage ,or at least under a shed, this will help it some, good luck,i hope this help,s.

Of course it can. The best you can do is buy a can of starter spray in any gas station and spray the spark plugs (tops and plastic caps), open the contact breaker cap and spray the points inside plus separate the cables that connect to to the contact breaker cap and also spray them. Make sure you do not step over the gas pedal to much and try a very long start with the key until it starts. Use the air button if you have one.

If you want to save money you can do all of the above with normal gasoline from your own car. If necessary have some one aid you with starting cables.

I live in Finland and whenever I have a problem of this kind I do this and it works always even when its -40 Celsius and not counting windshield factor

Like Mikey and frank f have reported. You did no longer get the whole tale. there is not any way the police or all of us however the owner of the automobile is going to would desire to pay for damages and prefer reported right this is why. You may need a 12oz. bottle of Isopropyl alcohol (dry gas) in your fuel tank. Consider changing your engine oil to a full synthetic. A 5w-30 full synthetic flows 20 degrees lower than a mineral based oil. The motor will crank much faster when cold.

There are several reasons that could be wrong:
#1 You could have water in your gas line & it froze.
#2 There could be water in your carborator and the float is stuck.
#3 If you don't have Anti-Freeze in the engine, the block could be frozen.
#4 You could have too heavy of oil in the engine and if you have a no/low oil shut down and because the oil is too heavy to be pumped into the engine this could be it.

Yes, cold weather can cause your car not to start, there might be water in your gas. Also you might try to clean your throttle bore using fuel injector cleaner, perferably Seafoam.

even gasoline doesn't fire at 45 degrees below zero.
any moisture in your fuel system will freeze and block the fuel lines and make them hard to start.

If you keep it outside try a engine block heater or wrap itin a electric heating pad or blanket. Looks like crap to your neighbors, but it does work.

Do you mean won't crank or wont fire? I am seeing answers for wont fire but the question looks like it wont crank. The chemical reaction is slower in bateries the colder they get. How cold are we talking about?
