I had a C section with my son. I was in the hospital for 5 days also. It really depends how well you are recovering and of course on what your insurance will cover. As far as the bleeding at the incision. Have your doctor look at it before you leave. You will be in pain for awhile from the surgery. take it easy and try to relax.
They are bringing the baby in to see you often to make sure you have a good maternal bond with her and she may not need the incubator as much if her lungs are fully developed. And also because you are breast feeding, try to pump some milk from your breast to keep the milk production going while you are at home and your baby is still in the hospital. If she is eating well..she will be home with you soon. While you are home take that opportunity to get plenty of rest. Once the baby comes home you wont be getting a lot of sleep. Ask the nurses and doctors everything you want to know...no matter how silly you think it is.
I think the name you have chosen is perfect. Good luck in the future...Take care of yourself.

Congratulations on the birth of your precious daughter. It is more or less standard now for hospitals to let new mothers and babies go home asap if all is well. It has to do with people waiting for beds and limiting the money that is spent helping people who can't pay. Be sure to ask about the slight bleeding before too long. Your incision should heal quickly, if it doesn't, that is a problem that you should insist be adressed. Your daughter is better off with you than in an incubator. Hold her as much as possible to help her to bond with you and feel secure. Breast feeding is wonderful; more young mothers should give this gift of life to their babies. Just be sure to avoid pop, chocolate, coffee and acidic or spicy foods while you are nursing. They can upset the baby's stomach and make her fussy. The pain medication you are taking will also pass to her through breast milk, so only take it if you really need it. Good luck sweetheart.

Average stay for a c-section is 4 days. I left on day 3, because it was my personal choice and I was given the okay to go. It also depends on your health insurance coverage. If you are bleeding from the incision in your abdomen I am surprised they are releasing you until that gets under control.

Honestly I am kind of surprised to hear they will release your baby so incredibly early. Even if she is 4 lbs 5 oz she was born so early and most likely has some type of problem. As for the incubator, that is used when the baby has trouble maintaining his/her body temperature. If your baby doesn't require an incubator then I imagine it's because she can keep herself warm for the most part.

If she can be with you, that will help her development. Breast feeding is best for babies, and even though it doesn't make them as chubby as formula fed babies, it will help make her strong and give her a good immune system so she can fight any other sickness. If the hospital think she should be with you, have her with you. NICUs actually get volunteers to come in and cuddle premmy babies because people develop better when they are touched and held.
Best of luck to you and your baby. And don't be afraid to ask questions of the doctors and nurses, the more you can find out the better, and someone will have asked the same questions before you, so don't think you will look silly.

Its a good thing your breastfeeding your lil girl, her weight will catch on and she'll be a healthy baby in the long run, trust me. If i were you, i wouldnt worry abt why she wasnt on the incubator anymore, its a good thing because your breastmilk is giving her the nutrients that her lil body needs to stay healthy. Also the name Mariela Tatyana is a perfect name for your daughter because it means so much to you. Good Luck in the future with your lil girl.

wow...well i think the baby will get to 4 lbs and 5 oz by tomorrow. You sound young to have a baby. Thats a HUGE responsability. Well i have no idea why they don't put her in the incubator. Maybe they need to keep a close watch on the baby expecially after your fall on your belly and having to give birth right away.
I hope you the best of Luck!

1) A ~ Charlotte or Cara ~ Charlotte B ~ Jean or Jane ~ Jean C ~ Claire or Avery ~ Claire (Avery is a masculine boys name) D ~ Landon or Caden ~ Landon E ~ Caleb or Gavin ~ Gavin F ~ Noah or Isaac ~ Noah 2) I have Charlotte Marissa on my own name list. Other suggestions: Charlotte Ruby Charlotte Adele Charlotte May Charlotte Dawn Charlotte Eve 3) I'm not a fan of the name. I love Charlotte and Claire but I don't like them together. Jean is also nice but I just don't think Charlotte Jean Claire flows. Charlotte Jean is nice though. 4) No. I hate Avery for a girl. It's a masculine boys name and is horrible for a girl. 5) I would like to have 4 kids. 2 boys and 2 girls. Nathaniel James Rosalie Janae Sebastian Rhys Victoria Claire BQ 1. lucky you to have a prem baby at 26 weeks at such a large weight - my son was born at 28 weeks weighing 2lb 11 oz and stayed in hospital until he was 5lb - which was 3 months!!! Also at 26 weeks, babies lungs are not fully developed, I had 2 lots of steroid drugs to help his lungs mature, and you wouldnt of had time to have them if u had a emergency c-section.

so I think there may be a few porkie pies being told here.

If your having pains after a C - section - the hospital would not be discharging you.

The name s beautiful and I'm truly amazed that your 26 weeker is doing so well. It's unheard of for lungs to be developed at that gestational age, not to mention breastfeeding skills. Her weight is also higher than I'd expect for 26 weeks. Are you sure you weren't farther along than you thought? Anyway, I'm sure she'll gain weight quickly if she's a good eater. My daughter gained over a pound in her first week. Best of luck.

The names mean something to you so they are perfect. I breastfed all my kids and it does help then grow faster. They baby may be doing better when she is with you and if she doesn't need to be in the incubator that is really good news. Keep breast feeding as long as you can and congratulations and good luck
