I think it depends on the middle and last name you're choosing. For example. Marcus is only two syllables and Nicholas is three. So if you choose Nicholas maybe a two syllable middle name. (Nicholas Jordan) or a one syllable middle name (Nicholas Lee). If you choose Marcus you might choose a longer middle name like ( Marcus Samuel, or Marcus Julian). Also, when I think about names I like to include what nicknames would go along with that, and if the name is versatile. Does it sound sweet for a child, but sophisticated for an adult. Nicholas has more nicknames (Nick, Nicky). Nicky is good for a child while Nick sounds very grown up. Marcus is an older name in my opinion. I think it fits an adult better than a child. Anyway, what it comes down to is that you're the best judge of which name is most suitable for your child. Just follow your instincts. It'll click.

I like both names, but I like Marcus slightly more than Nicholas.
