Affirmations, or as I prefer to call them, Verbal Remedies work by engaging a process of creative visualization. The way to write and recite your own precision affirmations is to make your statements: Positive, Present, Personal and Specific. Here are some useful resources for getting your mind around your own verbal remedies: http://www.psychic-junkie.com/verbal-remedies.html

My intuition makes up for my lack of good judgment.
I assume full responsibility for my actions, except the ones that are someone
else's fault.
Having control over myself is nearly as good as having control over others.
When someone hurts me, forgiveness is cheaper than a lawsuit. But not nearly
as gratifying.
Only a lack of imagination saves me from immobilizing myself with imaginary
fears.
Today I will gladly share my experience and advice, for there are no sweeter
words than "I told you so."
Becoming aware of my character defects leads me to the next step -- blaming
my parents.
I will find humor in my everyday life by looking for people I can laugh at.

I don't know how clever it is or whether it constitutes an affirmation, but an axiom I live by is, "Never say never and never assume," because it says volumes if you think about it for a second.

“It takes a deep commitment to change, and an even deeper commitment to grow"
A few funny ones I like too...
" Having control over myself is nearly as good as having control over others"
"Who can I blame for my own problems? Give me just a minute...I'll find someone"

Hmm.
"Lets drink to get drunk and tell each other everything, for a drunkenmind speaks a soberheart."
And one of my personal quotes:
"If time is going too fast for you and you can't seem to catch up, I suggest that you start staring at the clock."
