Earplugs.
Believe me, mum hears the noise too and doesn't like it any better than you do! Kids are noisy, you're going to get that anywhere, and there isnt anything you can do about it.

If it is in your lease agreement that you are entitled to quiet in the night and you have taken the matter up with the mother and the landlord and nothing has been done then I would think you have the right to move. If the landlord doesnt hold to the contract then you would be able to get out of your lease legally, I would think. I have had the same problem with neighbors and was told by an attorney that I could move. The only bad thing about it is that it might involve getting an attorney to step in just to have some legal backing for you.

revenge!!!! i couple of years ago i lived in this apartment and my neigboor had 2 kids they were like 2 and 3 yrs old. and every single weekend they would start screaming as early as 7 am so i coulnt sleep and it bothered me cuz it was the weekend the only days that i can sleep. so i started puting music really loud everyday around 5-6 pm. one day she knock on our door to complain saying that that was the time her kids slept and that the music i had on disturbed their sleep. aha it was my moment of glory i told her about her kids making noyse on the weekends at 7 am and that it was my sleep time and they were disturbing me. so i told her that if she stopped them from screaming at that time i would stop playing loud music. those freaking kids never bothered me again... ZZZZZ and i slept good on my weekends... do something to bother her hopefully it will work 4 u. GOOD LUCK!!

Well, maybe she is unexperienced mother or the child is hyperactive or something..You never know unless you talk to her..Don't ever jump to conclusions ...I am sure she is not doing it on a purpose and the way floors were installed is again not of her making..I understand her side too...You better talk to her more and suggest carpeting

Tell the landlord if he/she doesn't do something about the noise that you will move out, or tell him you want a different unit on the upper level.

Don't let the landlord cop out. Call him every time you get woken up so he gets a taste of your world.

Visit your neighbour again, speak with the superintendant, or call your local bylaw office. They can pay her a visit, and maybe she'll take heed.

I would suggest that you find another place to move and let them do what they do.
