Are you talking movies or cartoon?
Movies: parts 1 & 2 were ok, 3 was pathetic.
Cartoon: well done. not in continuity, but well done.

Its all boring and violence to those who do not celebrate the comic book heroes that are the X-Men.
I watched the old show and all 3 movies being the fan of them that I am.
There is no reason to it other than the fact that I enjoy a fictional good vs. evil battle which in this case happens to be between superhumans (or mutants if you will).
If you want to look deeper into it you can pull out some life lessons it tries to teach but I am not even going to get into that because I do not watch it for any of those reasons.
