why is it that people start acting like SHI@HEADS or they think they own all, when they get a well paid job or happen to have got a bit more MONEY than the average joe?

because they think money is what 'makes' people. take the money away from them and you're not left with much.

t0ssers the lot of them.

now this is interesting are you jealous that a person got a better lot in life or are you confusing this with snobbery I am not to sure cause you did not really define your answer. OK so did some one get a better paying job and started to treat you badly due to that fact? or is there some underlying reason that your feeling left out. if so MAKE a change. do something that is for others Right that at that moment you will fell soooo much better cause you did something for some one else other then your self and would not be passing on that snobbery attitude that the world has enough of. so keep smiling and stay down to earth cause who needs another SNOB in there life. Smile you will feel better about your self and others as well.

Maybe it's because they know they ARE more valuable -- at least by a societal consensus standard.

For example, imagine you have an identical twin, and the two of you are the same in every respect except that he earns $500k/year and you earn $50k. Did you know that if the two of you are killed in an accident and your families subsequently sue, a court will award more for his wronful death than for yours? Economically, he's simply more valuable than you. And remember, because the two of you are presumed to be identical in every other respect, that makes him more valuable on net.

Of course, that doesn't rationalize gratuitous gloating. Probably, though, people derive pleasure from being reminded of those distinctions that make them, by society's yardstick, "better" than their peers -- just like an attractive person might enjoy looking in the mirror.

You're no different. Your post seems to anticipate that people will join you and ratify, validate your righteous indignation. And then you will feel "right" and smart and empowered, "better" than your dumbass hypothetical twin who, though he may drive a cooler car than you, has not won the approval of the prestigious Yahoo Answers audience.

Because the effort MOST people have to go to to get a lot of money is so great only somebody who has an inferiority compex, or some such thing, would have the underlying driving force to go to the bother.

The money then gives them, confidence which they've never had, and a false sense of their own importance.

Some people do. Americans have been raised for generation after generation to believe that money equal success. There are a lot of people who value things over relationships. I know a lot of people who make a lot of money. Very few fit this profile.

Making more money makes people confident they can buy better things and then they start acting like they are better than everyone else because they have nicer things, and they start looking down on everyone else around them. The rich get away with murder and the poor get treated unfairly.

That is a good question...... I grew up pretty poor...... never homeless, but always a paycheck away from being homeless...... now that I am grown and married, I am in college and my husband makes pretty good money........ I would rather hang with all my old friends than any of the pompus poeple I have ran across lately.....Money doesn't make people better, it usually makes them worse!

The criteria I go by is HARD WORK. People who work hard are the people I respect. They can have as much money as they want - if they got it by bumming off somebody elses ideas, no respect pal.
