God save the Queen is OK...but its singing to and about one person "The Queen". Land of hope and glory is stirring and a song to be proud to sing out loud. If not the National anthem...why not "The English anthem"...after all, the Welsh and Scots have there's. It would be good to hear this at the beginning of all England sporting occations. Over to you lot out there...Thanks for lookin' in!

I agree. I think even in the last verses of God Save the Queen it talks disparagingly of 'rebellious scots' - not very pc! If i was scottish i would not be impressed! It seems all other countries have an anthem with a bit of a decent tune to it. We should be singing about the UK and how great it and its people are, not about how we are the servants of one royal individual.

You spoke back this your self, Land of wish and glory is "English", no longer British. God save the queen excludes many too, have you ever even heard the line about "perfidious Scots"? possibly time for something new. you won't be able to imagine of a sparkling British anthem although only for England carrying activities, after all Britain is a few distance more desirable than only English.

Hello, yes I agree with you, something like Land of Hope & Glory it certainly is a stirring tune, as is Jerusalem. The only trouble is there are too many PC people out there who would bound to pick fault with either of these and say they are rascist or something else. Definitely get rid of God Save the Whatever.

I agree I'm a Monarchist but i think God save the Queen is a bit drab. Yes Land of hope and glory or Jerusalem?

I think the Liverpool F.C. adopted song "You'll Never Walk Alone"
should be in the running to be our national anthem.

I agree wholeheartedly! As for a song, how about "This must Be The Place" by Jerry Lee Lewis. Of course, it would have to be re-recorded, probably by Cliff Richard!

Give it another 10 years and we'll have to have it translated into Urdu, Farsi or Hindi - that's unless the Chinese have managed world domination
