Usually. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I don't think you can measure life in terms of years. I think longevity doesn't necessarily have anything to do with happiness. I mean happiness comes from facing challenges and going out on a limb and taking risks. If you're not willing to take a risk for something you really care about, you might as well be dead.

One of the best things in life is having that commutative, happy and loving moment with someone you love and care about.

One of the best things in life for me are those little moments when I'm walking outside and just simply enjoying 'being'

Yes, the best things in life are free. Now, some of the things you'd find to be free, like experiencing an awesome feeling and enjoyment from seeing a beautiful tropical rainforest while on vacation visiting the amazon, sitting on the beach enjoying a breeze and feeling a peaceful happiness, etc etc, would be free itself, but actually *getting* there and going through the process of being able to enjoy it, now that's a different story. The saying of "the best things in life are free" pertains to the things that are non-material things.

Hmmm...that depends on what the individual thinks. Some measure the very success of life by materialism, while others measure it by their experiences. Those who have been at rock bottom can appreciate life more, because those who always have money, get into the addiction of always wanting more.

A while back a study was done about this topic. They found out that more people in the higher end economic class contemplate and/or commit suicide. They concluded that the more you have the more need to gain the same level of happiness. You be the judge.

OMG yes ! I think this is learned as you go through life but to see a sun sit, a sun rise, a beautiful new moon , trees in autumn , new fallen snow, a field of flowers, an older couple walking hand in hand, and the face of a new born child. Yes these things are free and few take the time to enjoy them.

Yes, actually they are, but it's a matter of a person getting their value systems to that point where they can appreciate the small things. Too often we just become jaded by bigger and more exciting material things, to where we can no longer enjoy the "small things."

My wife and I have been both poor and wealthy, but what shone through it all was our ability to enjoy life without having to be largely entertained.

Not always because I am a fan of a really good steak and it is certainly not free so I would say a lot of of really good things are free but not necessarily the best things!

Depends on what you call the best...
If its the air we breathe..nope
Is it the water we drink, swim in, wash and cook with..nope.
A gift to please a lover..nope
Any material thing you want...nope
But, if its the beauty you come upon unexpectedly, that makes you think, and fills you with wonder? Yes
If its a smile that lights up your world? Yes
A cloudless, warm sunny day...yes
A touch...yes
Depends, but all in all, the things that make my life worth living are free :)

Everything cost something, wether that cost be time, effort, money, commitment or endurance, (you may be able to think of others, but I think that is enough to be going on with). Nothing is gained for nothing. Life demands a payment, sometimes more than you've got to offer.

Yes. I have a lot of "things" and I now realize that they are fairly unimportant....pretty much am done with the material things in life.

Experiences, the memories created, love, laughter and feelings in general are intangible and have no price
