1. Possible cure for diabetes found, a simple one time injection into the pancreas of mice almost instantly cured them by effectively ending a vicious cycle, if it works in humans, it would not only cure diabetes, but could revolutionize the thinking of causes and treatment of chronic diseases.
2. Nuclear proliferation, and continued inaction.
North Korea tests a nuke despite years of negotiations and meaningless promises.
Iran is developing a nuke, and nobody wants to stop them.
Iraq found to have been developing nukes, the story is ignored, and continues to be denied.
3. Alternative Media actually affects sales of major media and politics. Liberalism begins to careen out of control.
Newspapers are losing money and cutting jobs. Network news shows losing viewers, as more people choose to find better sources of information on the Internet. Could be the biggest thing for free thought since the printing press.Could also be the worst thing as more people choose to only trust blogs of dubious credibility, rather than hard facts. Opinions continue to polarize worldwide. Alarmingly left-wing extremists seem to tolerate the rise of radical Islam, as fashionable anti-Americanism takes precedence.
