who would you take?

If I was the GM with the first pick of the draft I would identify my needs and see what player best fits those needs. If the player that I identify would be most needed by my franchise isn't a projected top three pick, I would trade down. This way instead of getting one first round pick...You get two to three picks. Everyone knows you can get production out of later round pics in the NFL Draft as long as you can identify what players can actually play within your system. M. Colston was a 7th round draft pick and he made D. Stallworth expendable. This allowed the Saints to get a fire plug in the middle of their defensive line (hollis thomas) and a solid but not good or great middle linebacker(mark simineau). The little moves that the Saints made are where they made their biggest improvement. Keeping Duece gave Bush the cushion he needed to ease into the league and find his niche as a reciever out of the backfield. If I needed a QB I would draft the QB out of LSU though, he seems to be a NFL star in the making.

If I were the GM of the Raiders I would probably trade down. As a couple of people had mentioned they have too many holes to fill. I would trade the pick for either their 1st and 2nd round picks, or a player and a pick.

The run defense ranks among the worse, so I'd consider trading the pick for one of the front guys from Miami and their pick. You could possibly do the same thing with Houston, Cleveland, or Minnesota. All those teams will be looking to fill their QB needs. I would say Jacksonville, but I don't think they're willing to give up much.

Some teams need a WR like Calvin Johnson to finish their teams. Teams like Tampa Bay, Tennessee, Baltimore, San Diego, Kansas City, Chicago, Detroit, and Minnesota (Again). Though San Diego, Baltimore, Chicago, and Kansas City look like stretches for that trade.

An awesome trade would be 1st round pick for Kansas City 2nd round, and Tye Law. I see that happening just like I see Bobby Bowden headed to Gainesville, though.

If I were starting a team and if I were the Raiders, I would select Calvin Johnson, WR. He is the most sure fire superstar in this draft.

The Raiders are going to rid themselves of Moss and Porter. Houston is open to trade talks on David Carr. Oakland has so many holes to fill, that this may be the best route rather than drafting Russell and signing, Stallworth.

If I was the Raiders GM I would look at the trade offers. They are out there if the teams think you would look at them. I think the Raiders need too much and first picks tend to be a bust. Yeah the Raiders need a QB, but they need one NOW so I would look at Free Agents.

well, we all learned from last years draft that you always take the most althetic. in this case, i would have to go with Adrian Peterson, even though the raiders don't need a running back. i will take a chance with him. willis mcgahee had a more serious injury and he is excelling in the NFL. Peterson was a better back and should have a successful carrer. i hope the packers get him at 16 though.

if i were the raiders gm... ide kill myself. they have nothing.
but, i would trade down and get a bunch of offensive line prospects for the draft pick, trade away randy moss and porter for some more picks, and then get calvin johnson, joe thomas, and puz-something or another, from penn state.

I would take Joe Thomas cause the OL is worse than any i've ever seen. So pick him up and try Aaron Brooks again, he didn't do horrible in the last few games

The Raiders need Russel w/o question. He would be the obvious choice at the #1 overall pick.
