so that if any foreign army invaded Poland, Britain and France would automatically come to their aid as an ally. The beginning of WW2 was when Germany invaded Poland. The USA entered the war when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Russia entered the war when Germany invaded Russia, and so it went until 1945.

In Europe the reason why WW2 started was the Treaty of Versailles, which divided up the Austrian Hungarian Empire, gave parts of Germany to Poland, France, & Czechoslovkia, regulated the size of the German Army to that which could not defend Germany, done away with the Air force, and most of the navy, was forced to tolerate French troops on there soil, and make repriation that it simple could not make.

In Asia it was the miliitary control of the Japanese government and they desire to make Japan independent of crucial natural resorces such as oil, rubber, steel, basiclly materials needed to advance the japanese war machine.

A prevailing fear of war, that fostered the itialians, german, and japanese powers into the belief that the world would turn the other cheek rather than to fight them for sheer fear. Between 1932 and 1937 Hitler, Mussilini, and Toho achived allot by sheer intimidations.

Hitler invaded Poland in 1939 and as Britain had a treaty with Poland, war was declared on Germany. The Nazis went on to invade the rest of eastern Europe and the Baltic states. The rest is as they say - History!

If you study your history, you'll realize that WW II was just an extension of WW I. In effect, it was all the same war, with about a 20 year pause in the middle.

Hitler. Mostly because people wanted revenge though. And they wanted their land. [Germany was pretty mad about the whole 'war guilt' thing, so that played a part.]
