My mum has been getting bad 'dizzy spells' (vertigo) about every month or so (irregular though) which start in the morning and carry on through the day but usually better towards the evening!

They are serious and she can't even walk in a straight line...sometimes cant even walk atall! They are accompanied by nausea, and fatigue.
Its like being drunk and the room spins.
She also has tinnitus and a constant sound in her ear.

Doctors say they don't know what it is....she can't work as she never knows when they'll come on!!

Anyone got any idea what this is?

Thank You
:-) :-) :-)

My sister had the same problem some years ago. It was caused by an inner ear infection. The unbalanced walking and dizziness is a symptom of it and your mom should go back to get checked out.
The dizziness is caused by the liquid in the one ear not being the same as the other, therefore causing everything to seem off for her. My sister also walked around liked she was drunk half the time...it's not a laughing matter, and it can last for quite some time..
Good luck to your mom

It sounds as though she has an inner ear problem. That is what affects your balance. The nausea and vomitting is as a result of the dizziness. She must consult a specialist.

I would recommend that she has a tilt table test done. I have been having dizzy spells for years and they finally did this test and were able to find out what was wrong. Any nuerologist will be able to do it.
