It's not true. The vibrations from the engraver would not harm the ipod. Besides, jewellers do the delecate engraving works day in and day out. So, you can count on them for your work :-)

Only if you can have it laser engraved, as Apple does it. If you have it done with a machine that comes in contact with the iPod, it will more than likely mess it up. Also, you probably couldn't find a jeweler that would do it without you signing something saying that they are liable for any damages.

Try a part of your favorite song. Like I would do "This is the party without the people, this is the show without the sounds" from There's A Class For This by Cute Is What We Aim For. Just so you know, it will be harder to sell your iPod later on if you want to get a newer version, because less people will want an iPod with something engraved on it that they do not agree with. Oh and I wouldn't put your name on it, because it will be almost impossible to sell.

No it wouldn't hurt I got my name engraved on mine from a jeweler and my friend did 2 and my iPod is working perfectly normal.

no it wont do anything my friend got her ipod engraved 4 her birthdy and it works fine when u go and get it engraved make sure it is held firm and steady though

I've heard a lot of people got it done to theirs, and they never said anything about it hurting the iPod, but you may want to ask someone who knows about iPods if that will hurt it.
