My husband died a few months ago. This is my first Valentine's Day with no gift. It really isn't the gift that matters, is it? It's knowing that someone thinks enough of you to pick something out just for you. Gift or no gift, there is someone on earth who loves us. For me it's my daughter, who is also missing her Daddy. I wish us all well on this day.

Me. I got nothing, zip, nadda. Not even a happy valentines day, a kiss, card..not anything. honestly. i was hurt as hell. i cried my eyes out when he left for work. I left him a card and gifts in the car for him. He just doesnt care like that. It hurts my feelings so much, but ... o well i guess. I look at it as I love my husband SO SO much more than he loves me, and i care a heck of a lot more. If he loved me hed care and be romantic. I thought i was the only one. What a absolute MISERABLE day! :-(

I got a card from my other half, one from my 10 week old son (with a little help from daddy!), a cuddly dog and a huge bouquet but I've been laid up with a stomach bug plus looking after the baby this wek and hadn't got my OH anything in return! He left in high umbridge for work this morning muttering about how hurtful it was that I hadn't "bothered" to get him anything. I felt awful

I popped out just now and bought him a card and box of black magic and also arranged to have a "mans" bouquet delivered to him at work by the nearest florist.

I am brave enough to admit i got nothing :o(
my husband thinks valentines day is a waste of money.
In fact he thinks Easter/birthdays/xmas etc are a waste of money, i am sure he is the 21th century scrooge.
But i always make him a special card and get him something nice. Just to show i still love him.

I got nothing. and i have been happily married for 3 years now

well do i care ? in my heart of hearts yes i do.

am i hurt ? a weee little bit i am

but thats because i believe in Valentines day and see it as an oppurtunity to express love and rekindle flames, but my husband has a different view. he pampers me on our anniversary instead or my birthday - he doesnt think joining the band wagon and paying double the price for a bunch of roses for v day is worth it - its just his opinion.

if you truly love someone and they loved you, it wouldnt matter wether you got flowers from them on 14th feb or 14th dec, would it ?

if i told him that i am hurt about getting nothing, he is so sweet that he would actually buy me something to make sure i am not hurt - but i dont him to do that - i want a gift only if he means it and believes in it.

so you see.... not all of us need get excited about valentines day.

Not me and guess what I don't care (tho I don't get to see my gf till Saturday).

Valentines day has lost all meaning, you don't need one day a year to tell your bf, gf, wife or husband that you love them, you should be telling them all the time or for you to buy them a gift\card to show you how much you mean to them.

Its one stupid tradition that can be wiped from the colander and wont be missed.
