....if so is that the correct spelling and what is its meaning please- I cant find it in my dictionary but my boss has written in a letter he wants me to send out- I've never heard of it!

Acumen means to be shrewd, as in business. It means accurate, sharp, keen, "on the ball."

Yes I have heard the word acumen and you did spell it correctly. I usually hear it used as "business acumen." I have had a difficult time getting people to define it for me but I take it to mean a knowledge of what is good business (as in experience and the ability to make good, sound business decisions).

Yes the spelling is correct.
There are also a few companies out there called Acumen, one of which manufacture heart, blood pressure and diabetic monitors.
