I am looking for rap artists that are also a good writer of rap. I have been listening to Atmosphere and i think they are pretty good. Anyone know other artists? Another example is the legendary 2Pac.

In simple words, I am not looking for rap that plays in bars and clubs. NO "shake that ***" or "lean down..." or whatever else they play.

Thanks.

To name an artist, I would say Nas. Nas is a lyricist. There have been a lot of songs he has done well. Songs I've always liked are: "Life's A *****," "The World is Your's," "Purple," "2nd Childhood," "Doo Rags," Still Dreaming," "Just A Moment," and "Thugz Mansion."
I love the way how he can tell stories in his songs; like in "2nd Childhood," he tells of how adults can still be childish as if they were in their second childhood.

Practically anything by Public Enemy. Don't let the band's name fool you. They're message is deep and relavent. Chuck D is an amazing lyricist and his delivery is unmatched.
