I know what you mean. I think that when I am down already, things that I would normally let pass without a thought seem detremental to my happiness. I get upset about the way someone spoke to me, etc. When I am in a good mood, none of that matters at all!

its in your mindset at that time...you are experiencing sadness in your life and that is all you will see as you are sending out negative vibes. You think it you will believe it and you will only see that all around. Sometimes, when sad one chooses not to look at the happy things around as it only reminds them how depressed they really are. It is easier to relate to the sadness all around and it is easier to find people more sad than happy and positive as it seems to be more acceptable in society than the optimistic people.

You don't see the world around you as it is. You see the world as You are. Everything you see is interpreted by your own feelings and emotions. When You are feeling sad or depressed, You will interpret the world as a sad and depressing place.
