Okay, here's the situation. I have installed by mistake some crazy program called NVIDIA. It has given itself an icon in my toolbar. It so-far has affected the appearance of my desktop/color/resolution/fonts, seems to making my computer run a little weird no matter what I do.....things just haven't been right.
I just got this computer brand new from Dell and it wasn't doing this before so I *know* its this weird program.
I have attempted 5 times to delete it from Add/Remove programs. It takes me through the necessary steps and even resarts my computer to complete the uninstall. IT WON"T DIE!!! LOL Everytime I go back to Add/Remove programs, it's STILL there. When I click on the toolbar icon, I can't find anything that would help me get rid of it.
Please, please.....can anyone help me!!
**BTW, we're running Windows XP home edition.

Okay Mr. Rude, I NEVER said I was some smart-***!! How dare you call me ignorant!!
I'm *not* that computer savvy and I'd never deny it.
This NVIDIA program was nenver here before when I first got the computer? Regardless, how can I adjust the settings to make my desktop look more normal? Everytime I log in my font size is different as well as the resolution and everything else. It's never the same.
Also, another question.....how come my computer shuts off if I haven't touched it withing a half hour? I know that my screen saver will xcome on etc, but this pc actually shuts itself down, although in a weird way cause all the power buttons are still "on" but the screen is dark.......the mouse won't turn it back on so i have to push the power and re-start.....this doesn't seem normal.
BTW, THANK YOU to those that are actually trying to help me and not being rude

Nvidia is the manufacturer of the chipset on your video card. There are some useful utilities that will allow you to change resolutions and other appearance options quickly. This might be NVidia's Res Changer 2005 application or the Nvidia control panel.
Did you go to the Nvidia web site to download updates for your system and that is when this app showed up? Or was it there from the beginning and you simply do not like it?
My best advice is just don't use it if you don't like it. to change your visual settings just right click on the desktop, choose properties, and make any changes from there instead.
My last piece of advice is to NEVER use the System Restore utility like others here have suggested. This application simply restores your computer's registry back to an earlier version based on the date you choose. If you have made any changes to the software on the system since then (added or removed programs for instance) doing a system restore can create even more problems.

Nvidia is your graphics card, they have a program that will run in your task bar that will help you modify your viewing experience as they say. You can remove this from the tray by right clicking on the icon and working your way through the various menu's, each graphics card has a different way of removing the task tray icon, so good luck!
p.s. Do not try to uninstall the program, as it's a vital program for your graphics. If you could extract just the driver from the program that would work too, but that's advanced computing, and not necessary in this case.

That is installed with the video drivers downloaded from NVidia. It is a legitimate program, but you can hide it from your system tray. Right click on an empty space on your Desktop and then click Properties on the menu that pops up. Go to the Settings tab and click the Advanced button. There should be a tab there about NVidia, click that and then click Troubleshooting in the menu that pops up on the left of the window. You can uncheck the box that says to show an icon in the System Tray. It should disappear.

ok, I will assume that this is not a joke. NVIDIA is the graphics drivers for your computer - not a "crazy" program...your computer uses an Nvidia card I suspect. I would suggest NOT trying to unistall this regardless of whether you have seen this before. You can use the settings in this program to set your preferred appearance but it should not affect your performance unless you are messing around with settings that are best left alone.

Youre gonna keep messin around with it until you render your PC useless! Let me tell you a little story, You download the latest Nvidia dirvers and software for your PC. Your PC definitly has an Nvidia card in it or the software woulkd NOT have installed! Get use to it or install the original driver if you can figure out what it was! Otherwise, leave it alone before you have a REAL problem!

Nvidia is in no way a weird program and ALL Dell pc's require it. That application is the driver for your video card and if your remove them you will lose all of your display.
I have Nvidia installed for my Dell pc and it runs the visual display of my pc and optimizes it for the best visual quality.
Don't not remove it. Simply go to Appearances, Settings and make adjustment from there.

That is the software & driver for you graphics adapter .... it is necessary for your PC to work properly.
Many of us have that same utility on our toolbars.... actually everyone with an Nvidia video card has it.
You can use it to adjust your display settings which can easily be modified to your preference for fonts & color correction via this tool.
The problen is not the program but the settings you have chosen for your display.

Nvidia is a brand of graphics card. Removing it might screw up your graphics settings and/or card drivers.
I wouldn't mess with it unless you are really comfortable working with drivers and video card settings.
I am very comfortable working with video cards and drivers/software but I don't feel right giving you advice that could potentially screw up your system. Without seeing your system, it's impossible for me to tell you exactly what to do.
I would let a friend that is comfortable with these things take a look at it. Or call Dell tech support.

Nvidia is a video card chipset manufacturer. If you indeed have a nvidia video card you don't want to uninstall it. Click on the icon on the toolbar and adjust your video settings to suit your needs.

I think that is the drivers for your monitor (allows the monitor to show your info on the screen). Instead of messing with that, right click on your desktop, and click properties. There will be tabs there to click on for "settings" and "appearance". There you can set the colors, resolution, and font sizes. Good Luck !
