No need ANY medication at all. Yours is a very common problem and also a very easy one to get ride of; although this doesn't mean you won't go through it again someday further on when you sleep in a wrong position again.
Do the next for about 3 to five minutes every two hours:
- massage the sore muscle for a while (about a minute), then tilt your head to the oppsite side, so that your muscle stretches, this may feel a bit uncomfortable so don't push to much, just stretch the muscle. Then move your head stretching the muscle and back, doing this about fifteen times, very slowly. Now, with your head stretching the muscle, move your head forward and backward, so that now the muscle will stretch forward to the right and backward to the right (do all this set of excercises for about a minute in total). Finally, with your head still tilted, gently massage the muscle for about thirty seconds, then back to the normal position and massage for another thirty seconds.
Now, if you want you can add a set of movements with your head in circles, slowly and gently.
Remember, you'll stretch the muscle, not work it, don't work it, loosen it and stretch it.
As you repeat this excercise every two hours you'll find everytime you'll be able to tilt your head a bit more and pain will eventually go away most probably before the day ends.
There's no need really for any sort of medicine, but applying a bit of heat with a hot bag for about five minutes before the excercise will help a little.
Also, when you massage the muscle do it downwards (towards your heart to be more specific).
Good luck.

There are three ways to attack this.
1.Take an NSAI (non steroidal anti inflammatory) like Motrin, or Aleve. Follow the directions on the bottle, and make sure you take it with food or milk, it can upset the stomach.
2.Warm compresses. The warmth with help increase the circulation to the area letting the white blood cells pull away any infection or toxins. The warmth also helps relax the muscle.
3.Gentle stretching, try to touch your ear to your shoulder (right one to right one left one to left one) and pull your chin to your chest. If you can not touch your chin to your chest because of pain, and you feel as if you have a fever, get to a doctor right away, there might be something else going on than just sore muscles.
Good luck!!!

Might be a tension headache. Did the muscles hurt first or your head? I get tension headaches all the time. Whatever side my headache is one it goes down into my neck. You may ask your doctor about tension headaches and sometimes they will prescribe seeing a massage therapist to relieve it. Once they prescribe it your insurance covers it. I would also look into seeing a chiropractor. Its a lot more expensive, but I suffer from chronic migraines and in about 2 weeks all my headaches were gone.

You should try and get some extra protein into your diet over the next couple of days and maybe take some zinc and magnesium pills as well.

Sleeping will always help too because your body recovers quickly when its resting. Also, try not to stretch it or bend it in funny ways for the next little while.

Gentle massaging can help also because it brings blood to the area.

Apply ice on the area for 10-15 mins per hour until pain subsides.

Stretch the muscles along that region to remove lactic acid which contributes to the pain. (Remember stretching should not cause any discomfort, if you are experiencing pain, stop the excerise)

Hydrate your body

Aviod strenuous excerises.

Get some NSAIDs like ibuprofen to reduce swelling

There is very little you can do, you can apply heat to loosen the muscle or use an ointment such A535, but it will still take time, its one of those things that are extremely annoying but happen to everybody.

massage it and keep it moving. Heating it will help it for the rest of the day and if it still hurts when you go to bed, ice it before you go to sleep.
