yes he said 1st round, not first pick.....troy smith and brady quinn are overatted in my opinion....my dolphins are projected to pick brady quinn at 7th pick i believe (which im not opposed to, because i think he has potential).
the heisman winner is often a bust in the NFL, so it is no surprise that he isn't gonna get drafted high. Look at Charlie Ward (didnt even get drafted), Gino Torretta (6th round and was worst heisman winner ever in my book).
Troy Smith looked incredible all year, but in the biggest game he was grotesque!!! Sure, he was running for his life often, but when he had his chances he made terrible throws! I don't see him being a good NFL QB. jarmarcus russel has all the tools to be great. He looks like he will be a mix between Mcnabb and Young (blinding speed and cannon arm, should be able to stay in the pocket more than young and vick though)

Troy Smith is good but thats all he is, I wouldn't consider him a future Super Bowl winner. Also I personaly thought Brady Quinn should have won, he gives off a feeling that he will shine in the NFL.

Winning the Heisman Trophy as a QB actually is more indicative of being an NFL bust than a star player. Great examples include Gino Torretta, Danny Wuerffel, Eric Crouch, Jason White, Ty Detmer, Andre Ware, and Chris Weinke. Smith in particular, is small for an NFL QB and displayed a lack of leadership and big-game ability in his team's biggest game this season vs Florida. There is a very large gulf between what determines success in the NCAA and the NFL as a QB - Carson Palmer's success this early in his career is actually an exception rather than the rule, as the jury is still out on Matt Leinart. Because of his longevity, Vinny Testaverde can be considered one of the most successful Heisman-winning QB's, but even then,Vinny is not going to be a Hall-of-Famer...

he's a great College player, but that does not translate into a great NFL player. he has a lot of things that are lacking that a NFL player is missing...especially height. but i could be wrong. Drew Brees is only 6'0" tall and he does well. but Troy smith (by all the NFL scouts) is lacking good NFL abilties.
alot of heisman winners do not actually become great in the NFL. there are a few (like Barry Sanders) but not alot. the heisman indicates very little when it comes to the NFL

Eric Crouch won the heisman and no one even wanted to draft him as a quarterback, instead he was made into a safety. Jason White won it with Oklahoma and was not even drafted. Most heisman winners who are quarterbacks are not NFL caliber since the ability to manage a game is the most important thing in college. In the NFL you have to be able to make the throws and manage the game.

Most Heisman winners are terrible NFL players and some don't even make it. Troy Smith, Ohio State, and the Big Ten were all overrated.

If Quinn was as good last year as his Jr year he would have won. He wasnt and the losses ND had were attributed tio him. Ohio State would not have won like they did without Smith. Smith is considered to be too short as a QB in the NFL. He will be a wr or a db.

This proves the notion that winning a Heisman Trophy does not translate to success in the NFL.. Troy Smith was the beneficiary of a soft schedule and athletes arround him which made him look good.. Look what he did against Florida in the national Championship Game?? That was a team filled with NFL Players (Jarvis Moss, Brandon Siler, Reggie Nelson, etc..).. Troy Smith was exposed for the fraud he was

He choked in the National Championship, he is short. Smith has a good arm, is accurate on the move, and fast. He will do good in the NFL, but as a backup. 3rd round draft pick.
