Actually, one should never let go of his physical appearance and should always try to look his best for his age no matter how old he gets, for every age has its own beaty. This does not imply that one should overcare about his appearance and always worry about being ugly, fat, bald... One should accept the way he looks after trying to improve certain flaws and adapt to his physical appearnce never letting his looks get into the way of his behavior. Physical appearance has always been an issue for humans, for we are shallow in nature and seek for the pretty and beautiful. But today , this has become a big issue more than ever before because of commercializing plastic beauty more and more every year. This has affected people of all ages who are trying to look like the models and fake movie stars on television, magazines, ... This has mostly affected young people, especially teenagers because they are more vulnerable and less mature than adults, causing a lot if problems like depression, low self-esteem, lack of self confidence... in addition to eating disorders.

To some degree I believe what climate you live in depends upon how you view yourself and others... For example I've lived in and travelled about in"hibernating states" and the "non hibernating" states. The hibernators get a little fat during the winter and have no color and little sun. The non-hibernators who are out and about and doing things outdoors24/7 all year long seem to a) live healthier and b)have a healthy view of how others view them because they are active and out and about all without really trying...

I'd say mid seventies for women. Unless you've been considered beautiful all your life and that has what you have based your esteem on then it maybe it difficult to get old and unattractive. However i think that we need to see the beauty in ageing and accept it as a stage of life. Too much emphasis has been put on physical appearance

Maybe you always care, but you just have to learn to live with it.
