I can imagine that being a former P.O.W. will have plenty of sway during a debate between candidates on the topic of "war."

(For you liberals who never served, P.O.W. means "prisoner of war")

Being a POW holds so much value to the American people I can't imagine how his Democratic opponent will handle it except to say thank you for his service. Any ideas?

They'll pay lip service to his "heroism" in Vietnam, but they'll claim he's all wrong about the current war. Just you wait and see!

What a good question! Yes, they'll lecture him because today's political figures have no respect for anyone- talking about the left, that is. Dems play hide & seek the cigar in the oval office & commit real perjury while the GOP tries stratigies to perserve our way of life. Thats if you believe Bush lied. I'm a member of the military community & I don't always agree with McCain, but that doesn't mean what he saying isn't vital and shouldn't be taken into consideration. Dems think they are right, not what is right for our country and that is why they are always on the wrong side of history. When I'm wearing a burka and running from bacon, we again can say I told you so to the left.

Why would they lecture him? Maybe they'll have a debate. Which is totally different from a lecture, but as it pertains to a debate he should be in favor of peace. Any P.O.W. that doesn't want peace must not have had it very bad. If he's in favor of taking away our freedoms and waging war against an unseen enemy then he's not an american he's a communist.

Maybe you don't remember this but GWB did a good job of smearing McCain back in 2000. Just type bush mccain 2000 smear into google. I'm sure a lot will come up. But i guess only liberals remember the past. So when Jeb declares his candidacy and hires Karl Rove you will all be blinded by his spin again.

Here's the link because I know conservatives don't like to do any research.

I am a Vietnam Veteran & view McCain as a double talking sleazy insider getting his palms greased like the rest in the Senate & Congress. Talk about Kerry being a flip-flopper Mccain is the KING, word has it while in the POW camp he was BROKEN & gave up information. Thats the type i read HIM as!

McCain is a good man but I think his day is past.He is like Bob Dole in 96 ,"I been here along time,I deserve it".Being a war hero didn't help Dole although I voted for him.

Well chubs, I admit that he would have been a better candidate that George W. Dog-C*m in 2000, but he really is crazy, you know. POW or not, if he's suckling the teat of Falwell, he'll never get elected.

Well being locked up in a prison and surviving is admirable but does not make him an expert in any aspect of war.

I think people will vote for McCain since he was in the military and was a POW he would better understand what our troops are going through.

How does having been a prisoner make one qualified on the subject of war?

Okay - he was good at getting caught - what else does he have going for him?
