Ok i am having a mini skit of the court scene of to kill a mockingbird by harper lee. I will be playing Mayella Ewell. I am a fairly decent actress i have been in drama for 3 years and i acted on all 3 middle school plays. However Mayella is from the south and we are being graded on our performance. I want to do a southern accent from alabama. I can almost get it right. Any tips for making ot sound more realistic?

i understand your point, if you have been acting for 3 years i am sure that you will do fine, prehaps you can try putting your self in the characters shoes more?or you could always go visit southern arkansas which is not far from where i am from, being around people who speak that way will have a mayjor impact on how you talk!

Yeah, this is hard. The temptation would be to overdo the drawl, so watch yourself. I think that "almost:" might be exactly right. Never forget that you're playing to an audience.
