Florida family vacation. Any ideas?

lots of stuff in Orlando: Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum, Wonderworks, dinner shows, Disney World and their other parks, Universal Studios and their other parks, Wet n Wild, Water Mania, Orlando Magic games at the Amway Arena.

other than Orlando you could go to the beach, Venice beach, Naples, Sanibel Island, Daytona beach are some of the best ones. I believe Venice beach is famous for shark's teeth but I'm not 100% sure.

or you could visit St Augustine, an old historic city. the town dates back to the Spanish conquistadores of the sixteenth century and was where Ponce de Leon landed looking for the fountain of youth.

of course we've also got plenty of shopping locations and malls. there's 2 major ones in Orlando the Florida Mall and the Millenium Mall.

Ha! I live here, and it sounds so strange when people want to come visit!

Well, you should go to Disney, and/or Universal Studios. Come in the spring, so it won't be so hot, and all of the crowds won't quite be here yet. Definitely take a trip down to the keys...it is about a 7 hour drive from Orlando, but worth it! Make sure to reserve your hotel a head of time. And do some snorkeling down there. If you don't want to go so far for the beach, then check out Clearwater beach, it is beautiful on the West coast...and not as many waves. The east coast beaches are ok, but not as clean, and the sand is not as pretty. But if you insist on going to the east coast, check out Cocoa Beach, and then you can go check out cape Canaveral and the space center and of course Ron Johns Surf Shop...just over rated and over priced! Hope you have a blast on your vacation. Oh, and the water parks here are really cool, Disney has two of them (Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon) and there is a Wet and Wild on International Drive.

We love St George Island. Rent a house for a week. While beach front is awesome, anywhere on the island is less than a 5-7 minute walk to the beach. Sugar white sands, dolphins and sea turtles. You can kayak and jet ski. More suited to families than Destin or Panama City Beach in my opinion. Close enough to PCB if you feel the need to visit it for a day. Apalachicola river estuary has a great little museum and boardwalk. Go to Wakulla springs and take the river boat ride. This is where the Tarzan and Creature from the Black Lagoon were filmed. Jumping fish, alligators, turtles abound. You can swim afterwards in the spring.

Stay away from the highly profiled areas.....unless money is no concern...and you have young children

I enjoyed the beaches, snorkling, the Keys....Parrot Jungle...the lower profiled resorts are moreresonable and try harder to entertain...
