When women say that do they REALLY mean it? Or is this girlspeak for the opposite...

Oh mi-god what a dilemma. The WOMEN OF YAHOO WILL GIVE You the best answer, but I've heard the same thing for 30 years. Take her out to a nice dinner, buy her something she needs, like a fluffy scarf. I always get something. One year a grandfather clock. She was not thrilled. Not at all. A funny card sometimes works, if you write many sweet things.
Look, we're just MEN, and we never understand. Keep your head down, and whatever results just play dumb, because women really know we are. They may yell, but you know, they love us like any creatures that are subject to sudden brain-lock.

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:

Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!

The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.

Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.

Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it more of a homemade feeling.

That depends on your wife. You should know when she is telling the truth or testing you. Is your wife simple? If so, then I believe something from the heart would do just fine. So she might be saying "I don't want jewelery, roses, and candy; but more Quality Time, and intimacy.

I don't say something I don't mean...what about your wife? I told my husband it wasn't necessary to get me anything, he did anyway, and yes it was nice. I love tulips and I can plant them in the yard later and they not die after a few days.

Get her a card, make her dinner, take her lunch, do something...anything...just to tell her how much you love her. It's not about what you get, it's about what's in your heart. Also, it's not all about what you get but the journey. It's the thoughtful, heartfelt things that matter.

I think most women mean it when they say it, but if the guy does do a little something after that, it's even more special.....makes us think you're so sweet and thoughtful and cares so much to get me something even when it wasn't necessary.

See what happens when you don't get them anything.

Not sure, i say buy her a rose and a card just in case. That way its not much, so you won't get in trouble. And you won't be in trouble if she wanted something either. Good Luck! Happy Valentines Day!

you have to ask yourself if youve screwed up on a previous valentines day. Think well.... If you have, its her way of preventing another one. I think she means the opposite. Tell her the day means a lot to you.

She means its just another day. Im sure the two of you are at work doing the same crap you do on any other day. Just "show" her how much you love her later, and she will be happy!

Here's an idea. Get her something anyway, just to show her how you feel about her. It's not so much about what she says she wants to get, but rather more about what you want to give.
