no most dvdr will not be able to copy hd, as there is no hdmi input, also a normal disc is on 4.7gb, which if you could copy hd onto them will only last abou 15 mins.

Some dvdr are upscaling ( uses the hdmi output ) to give the feel on hd.

There are a number of HD-ready DVD recorders with HDMI connectors on the market right now that can be used effectively with full HD TVs. However, if I was you I'd wait until there are more HD DVD players and recorders on the market.

The dvd recorders will work with HD. Most will not be able to record in HD quality or play back HD but they will continue to record and play back in SD quality on an HD set because they have the correct connections.

the answer is no!
they have to be HD ready, as indicated on the front of most DVD players.
HD wont be ready for some years yet through an Aerial, Sky HD or another satellite with free to air channels produce it now, but that can be costly, my advice is to wait until they drop in price, and all the prblems are ironed out first.

while the information above is accurate to a degree.... blu-ray and HD-DVD recording devices are on sale now, and can and will record all the hi def you want

If you mean, will they be able to record in HD? then the answer is NO.
