My partner is wanting to train to be a midwife, but doesn't really have any for mal qualifications. She is 35. Where would she start and is she too old.

no shes not too old. I believe you need to be a trained nurse first, although there may be other routes into it, Im not entirely sure. U need to contact your local health authority and ask their advice.

Assuming she is in the UK, there are a variety of different options open to her. First she needs to get the qualifications to meet the entry requirements, which are either 5 GCSEs A-C for the diploma course, or 3 A Levels or an Access course for the degree course. It is also possible to go into midwifery via nursing, but the shortened course for nurses is not being run anymore in many areas, and is possibly even more competitive than the direct entry course. She is definitely not too old, there are plenty of women who train in their forties and even fifties. Tell her to have a look at www.studentmidwives.co.uk, she will be able to find out a lot more there, and ask any questions she might have.

Not too old. She would probably have to do an access course, and then start the midwife course.
However, my sister recently looked into courses and apparently they are massively over subscribed and jobs at the end are limited. That's the sad state of the NHS.

You are never too old to learn. I grad from college at age 36. Your study habbits are better and you have more of a focus in your life now at this age. Go for it !!! Best of luck!!

never to old. try asking at the jobcentre about what course of action to take. if not they might be able the transfere you to an adult training center who will tell you what training she needs etc. good luck to her.
