how about using lining paper on the walls and painting over that as its cheapish but nice colours for a babys room are pastels green and yellow say 2 walls in green and 2 in yellow or do half and half with murels such as paddington bear or winnie the pooh or something just as cute lol

My daughter is 10 weeks old now and we didn't find out the sex either, so we painted her room sage green and put a teddy border around the middle but we are moving soon to somewhere with bigger rooms so i am going to paint it a farm scene, but if you don't want anything complicated, just stick to a neutral colour like green, yellow or beige. You can always buy glow in the dark stars for the ceiling. This will keep the baby entertained as it is always on it's back. They are really cheap... we got 60 for £1.50 from ASDA. Also, try buying a cheap border with animals or bears or shapes on it and stick them on 1 wall as something to look at.

I am 21 weeks with a boy. I did not want the traditional baby blue room either. I did 2 walls light yellow and 2 walls light green, with accents of tan. I used the home depot Disney Color Line. I figured the colors would last longer than a couple of years and need to be tranformed from an infant to toddler too soon. Good luck...and have fun.

Hi,
when i had my second child i painted the room in a warm light yellow, which is suitable for either a boy or girl, and as they grow older you can accessorise the room to suit them, and as either blue or pink goes with a warm yellow, then you will not need to paint the room again for a while (unless the draw on the walls as they get older) or even a nice cream or pale green will go for either a boy or girl. Hope this helps and good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

We were really poor when we had our first, so here's what we did. Halfway up the wall we put a border, (ours had abc's of all colors), these are easy to take off later as the child grows and very cheap. Then from there up we painted a warm blue sky with hand painted clouds on the ceiling. They looked silly but our son (turned out to be a boy), really loved it. The lower half of the room was a cheery yellow. All it cost was wall paint, a border, brushes and a ladder with someone who isnt pregnant to swipe white swirls at the ceiling. Et viola.. the outdoors are inside.

Why not have your partner paint it for you? I painted the walls of my whole apartment this past summer and it was tiring, but fairly easy. It took about 7 days for me to complete the kitchen, bathroom, livingroom, and 2 bedrooms.
For a neutral color, I think a nice soft, but warm yellow would be very nice for a young child. I'm having a boy, so I settled for a nice soft sky blue. To add decorations, you could buy wall stickers of cartoon characters (they're under $20) like Winnie the Pooh. These wall stickers can be as big as a foot and are simply placed on the walls. They are removable, making it easy to redecorate if you rearrange the room's furnishings, and they are really cute. You can find them at stores or at www.amazon.com.
Hope I've managed to help and good luck with your upcoming pregnancy!

I didn't know the sex of my baby so I decorated the nursery yellow and green. The bottom half I painted green, like a grass green, and then I wall papered the top with yellow Winnie the pooh paper. I also used a Winnie the pooh border that was yellow and green. The paper was expensive though, so you could just paint half and half and choose a cheaper border for the middle.

We did ours in magnolia. You'll also find that this is the cheapest colour(along with white) especially if you go to your nearest trade paint dealer(find in yellow pages). You can buy it in large quantities and keep enough for touch ups later on(you WILL need to do touch-ups!).All the baby shops do accessories in cream like bedding, changing mats etc. (also usually cheaper than the more colourful varieties) and when the baby's born you can ask family and friends to buy specific things to add later in your chosen colour.Or ask everyone to buy you vouchers or give you money to get them yourself. You'll probably find you'll want to go mad shopping after baby comes so just buy a few basics now and get the rest later.Register with one of the websites like Greasy Palm and get your baby stuff delivered free and get cashback on it too.Babies need very little in the first few weeks as you will know so save it for afterwards and you might find it's much more fun when you're shopping for your newborn.I went shopping crazy when pregnant and wished I'd waited so I could buy everything in pink!
Hope that helps and best of luck.

Hi there,
Congratulations!!
Light green and/or light yellow is always nice!
You can always make a jungle theme.....that would suit both a girl and a boy...paint a giraffe on on of the walls etc.
That way you can keep the room neutral and just add funky cuddly toys later to spice it up a bit...
Good Luck!

yellow. a nice light yellow is great. we have it in our daughter's room and her room will be the new baby's room (a boy). So it works well for both. And yellow is so sunny and happy. And you can later buy a border to match the sex of the baby. Lots of both boys and girls wallpaper borders have yellow in it, so you can make the room more girly or boyish with a border. Have fun!
