I am looking to buy a laptop for myself, I have a zune mp3 player, I am a sim fanatic, attend college, also a scrapbooker and need photo editing software. I would like to know brand suggestions, memory, hard drive, operating software suggestions. I also want to buy a desktop for my father he is new to today's computers and wants to explore. I currently have a emachines t3104 desktop with amd sempron 3300, 100gb hard drive and 256 md ram. and a dell inspiron 5100 with intel pentium 4cpu 2.80ghz and 256 md ram ( i think 40 g hard drive). I am willing to upgrade either instead of purchasing new. (I need one for my son and one for me) Open to any and all suggestions

Your needs don't seem to be too intense. I recommend purchasing a dell laptop, either the e1505 or the e1705, depending on your preference for the monitor size. The e1505 is 15 inch and e1705 has a 17 inch screen.

Just make sure you have decent ram for your Sim/photo editing software, 1GB will be plenty. Get a large HD, as photos take up a lot of space. 120GB or even 160GB if you can. The new windows vista software is fine for you, but XP will also work. There is a 20% off $999 coupon at http://24houredeals.com/Dell-coupons-23-mer.html

If you decide to upgrade your current systems, they desperately need some more memory. I would upgrade them to 1GB each if you are deciding to keep either one of them. Head on over to crucial and use their machine guide to recommend the type of memory your systems need. well, if you want to play the sims, you cannot get a laptop. the only laptops that can play the sims, are like $5,999.99!!!!! i would say that you should get a MacBook/MacBook Pro. they are mac...duhhh...and they are fast! mac is the best for like everything. Windows Vista is just copying most everything on mac os x tiger. like widgets, sidebar, built in search, and lots of other things.

If you need complete security go for a Mac PC.Macintosh is a secured operating system and integrates all the features. But its hardware dependent and think before going for it.
its worth for money!
