You can not be happy in a sad situation, however it is very much possible that you can remain 'possitive' through hard times.
* Hope for the best.
* Every cloud has a silver lining.
* Every night has its dawn.
* Keep faith in yourself.
* Remember "when the going gets tough, tough gets going "
* Pray to God as per your faith, it helps.
* Share your stress with some one you love.
* Keep cool, and don't let the stress or pain be reflected on your face and your attitude.
* Fight all negativities with all your mental power.
* Do anything possible to change the evironment around you.
* You have enjoyed your good times, why not enjoy the bad times too ?
* Remember there is no person on this earth who has not gone through bad times. When they can come out of it, why cant you ?
* Keep your attitude positive. IT ALWAYS FINDS YOU A WAY TO SAIL THROUGH HARD TIMES.

Yes it is. I have experienced that in my life. My brother died at the age of 25 12 years ago. I certainly was not happy that he died but I had trained myself to believe that everything happens for a reason; I have faith that all things work for the good (and no I am not a devout christian but I do believe in the risen Christ). Instead of thinking of the sad event I focused on ALL of the GOOD AND FUN times that I had with him and remind myself that so many babies die at birth or at an early age and so many people are suffering and I am truly grateful and happy for the time that he was given to me/us for. I make it a life motto to be that way. Saves a lot of time of wallowing in self pity - one way or the other life does go on and it IS what you make it. Even when I think of him today, I always smile and remember the good about him.
Cheers to all

Yes. Someone getting a divorce, after a very trying time, is sad about the way things turned out, but happy that it is over.

I do not know but I will give a real example of my experience. My father had a cerbral hemmorage at 6pm and was admitted to a hospital I came to house at 7 pm and rushed to the hospital. There I saw him groaning & snoring and this lasted till 3 am and I was waiting there all the time totally worried whether will he survive or he will succumb to the stroke. Ultimately at 3.10 AM he breathed his last and you know what came to my mind at that point of time ? The dialima whether he would live or he will die which has been haunting me from 7pm till 3.10 AM vanished and I sighed Alas he has died. Though ridden with grief at that point of time I had a relief from the suspense whether he would survive or die. This is a real situation and I hope this satisfy your question.

When my father passed away, his no longer being with us was sad! But at the same time, we were happy for him in that he was finally resting in peace after being bed fast and ill for nearly 2 yrs. His last year was the roughest! He was a brittle diabetic, had lost part of his left foot(gangrene), had had 4 strokes, could not walk, stand, could barely sit up with assistance, could no longer feed himself, was in diapers, and had lost his dignity! His wish was for his family to go out and party after his funeral, on his dime! And so we did! He was 74!
It's difficult watching a loved one suffer so much!

Large numbers of people manage to do just that in the poorer areas of some cities in India, and you can also be sad ,when everyone around you is happy and enjoying themselves.
