I have med-dark brown hair and i've always wanted to change it to light/platinum blonde. I'm not an airhead & i know blondes are not all dumb but yet everyone seems to think it's true.My friends and family try to put me off the idea of going blonde....

My question is, should i care about being stereotyped and forget the idea, or should i do it anyway and not care what people think?

Be different, go green with pink stripes and orange spots.

No, don't give a damn what anyone else thinks. It's your hair, not theirs, if they don't like it, they don't have to look. It's all down to you and what makes you happy.

I was born with naturally light blond hair and some people do assume you're naturally vain and dippy. There's also the widely held "Platinum blond" stereotype - you know the type!

I've always preferred people with darker hair, personally.

Disregarding personal opinion, remember that it's harder to go light over dark than vice versa, and dark roots will show up faster and more prominently. It's therefore a lot of work keeping your hair blond and unless conditioned and treated well it will inevitably go dry and rubbish because of the bleach.

I would build up going blonde slowly it won't be so much of a shock the main worry is your complexion if you are quite pale then going blonde can make you look very gaunt. I would have highlights put in perhaps a T section, then half a head then a full head.

As long as you are happy about the way you look and your'e not harming anyone then you shouldnt care what people think of you, if you spend your life trying to make other people pleased about what you do with your life then you will be very unhappy. My advice is, tell your family and friends that it is your choice. You do what you want not what anyone else wants you to do. hope this helps :) xx

well first of all will blonde suit you? Will it suit your eye colour and skin tone?
Also going from dark hair colour to blonde does take a lot of maintenance as you will need to keep redoing the roots which can get expensive.
Also if using bleach it can dry you r hair so you will need high maintenance hair care.
However if you are happy it will suit you and you can afford it.go for it!

Another saying more positive to blonde's is
blonde's have more fun....and it's true!

You should do whatever you think is the best for you and do not care what other people think. I'm naturally blonde and I love it:)
