Use a damp (not wet) clean sponge . It should just wipe right off. Then spray it with static guard. It won't attract so much lint and hair.

Stay away from the dog? Not possible if you live with a dog.
I like the saying, no outfit is complete without cat hair!! We have 2 cats :0)

placed on your rubber gloves, hose down them with water and wipe away the hair. in elementary words problem being getting the hair off of the gloves? only kidding, yet gloves do artwork on many surfaces at the same time with carpet (whew, lotta artwork)
