disciplinary legality after leaving a company?

can the company legally carry out a hearing after the employye has left the company

they can but I don't know why they would unless it involved legal charges with the police

Well I suppose it can, but how is it going to 'punish' the employee if s/he is found 'guilty' .....it seems a bit of a pointless exercise really, doesn't it?
