Ideally, it would a Very Good Idea! But, there are many situations where the children would be the ones punished, instead of the errant parent or parents. Abuse, Alcoholism, Drugs and Addiction to Gambling are a few of the problems that will destroy the Children, and the Parents. Sometimes, you have to put the safety of the children ahead of the problems that normally follow divorces.
I think that a better law would be to require that future parents attend educational classes in marriage and parenting. I also believe that such future parents should be required to attend meetings together with Professional Marriage Councilors for a set period of time. Only after passing these requirements should these future Parents be granted a Marriage License.

In this day and age "no" especially if there is no chance of them after counseling and trial separation doesn't work then they should be divorced. And this issue is really important if they have children so they at the age of 12 can choose which parent they want to live with until they are 18.

No, because some relationships are abusive. Then a person would be stuck in the marriage. I think that maybe they should make it harder to get married. Then, people would really think about it before jumping in. By the way, I'm divorced and remarried. My first husband liked to smack women around a bit. I can't imagine not being able to legally get away from him.

Absolutely not.
I think that divorce needs to be taken more seriously that it is, and people need to stop using it as the easy way out, but there are valid and just reasons for many divroces and no one should be forced to stay married.

No. Why would we do that?
Lets say, a spouse is abusive. Should the abused be subject to years of torture for the sake of the children?

That would just be plain stupid. Why in the world would you want a child to grow up in a home that had no love, no respect, no sense of belonging..................
