I can't understand the world today when adults find it in their heart to mame a small child, wreck her body and then strangle her.
At 2 yrs of age.

My purpose of this question is to see what people think of the fact that this baby was on the 'at risk' register - she and her 3 yr old brother where know to socail services - their parents were using drugs, were involved in violence and had already been talked to about neglecting the children -

Why the hell where these kids still in their care?

Social services should also be held accountable as well as the dirty uncle - what do you think?

Or will they just say 'oh lessons have been learnt' AGAIN.....

Do they just use the 'at risk' register to forsee which child will be murdered next, because I don't see what good they do with it.........I am just sooooo mad - in this day and age this sort of thing should be avioded

David - I am no expert too mate - just a mum - who feels that too many kids are dying at the hands of their own families and nothing seems to be done about those that are supposed to be protecting them

When I posted a question about what was the mother doing when the child was attacked I got a good going over, particularly from a charmer called Buttsmear. The tragedy of this appalling case is that it is the same old story ie the violent parental partnership, drugs, failure of social services to detect that the child was probably at risk (how much experience do these social workers need?). No doubt it will all come out but, meanwhile, I reserve the right to save my pity and sorrow for Casey and all the other child victims we have read about.

The social services/child welfare has alot on their hands, there are children sent to a social services EVERY DAY. It is impossible for them to find good homes or shelter for all these kids. So before you accuse social services for not being 'strict' enough, think of how it would be if there were no social services... Some people should just be prohibited from having children, but how do you do that?

It is sad when a child dies, let alone in horrible circumstances like this. And perhaps this case does highlight the holes in the policies of Social Services.

Maybe it could be seen as denoting that too much intervention in to private and family life suggests the birth of a 'police state', however.

Just a thought- I'm not saying I agree with this statement, just that it is a possibility. I am certainly no expert on the subject.

Thanks!

Just my opinion, but....

I hear constant rantings about the government having too much power in the home...that it should stop legislating parenting. But when a tragedy occurs in a home, and a child is the helpless victim, the rantings rise up about the government not doing enough to protect children!

This case...and the countless others just like it are tragedies. Plain and simple. But while you are praying for the soul of this child tonight, and all the souls of the helpless children in the hands of monsters...I ask that you also pray for the children of Iraq...who are homeless, parentless, without any hope and forced to live in a war zone on a daily basis. And maybe another prayer for the children of Darfur, who are helpless victims of genocide and the horrible aftermath.

I never knew the background of this poor child , so she was on the "at risk" register AND her parents are junkies well in my opinion she (and her brother) should have been removed from that house long ago , due to the unhealthy environment they were in .. so yes the social services are VERY accountable .. may God bless Casey and her brother who is too young to understand ....

There are limits to the action that Social Services can take - they can't just 'take the kids away' it's not that easy.

I think it's too easy to blame Social Services - what ever happened to personal responsibility? Why did that mother leave her child alone with those men when they couldn't be trusted?

The uncle killed that baby, not Social Services.

I understand where you are coming from and these situations sicken me more than I could ever express. There are so many children living in potentially dangerous situations or being neglected that social services can't remove them all from their parents - where would they all go? Would most of them really be better off in the dubious care system? There aren't any easy answers at all and perhaps that's almost as hard to accept as the death of another innocent child.

I totally agree with you Social Services should be held accountable. They obviously visited the house more than once so why didn't they take the children? No kid should be left in a home where their life is in danger.

Fully agree - but as you know with the inbreeds working for Social Services they will just deny it was their fault, blame some office junior, wait three months and then pat themselves on the back for a job well done and get a massive pay rise and moved to another post allowing some other poor sap to take the job on - and the cycle continues

My opinion on SS. When intervention is really needed, they are out chasing down someone for spanking their child for necessity. Not BEATING, Spanking. They ignore to the point of death something that is going on like this though. IT is so sad that poor baby had to die. No, Nothing will be done about it. It is sad and ridiculous.
