I never lost cable, and when the electricity came back on, I still had cable, all the lights on my modem where on and working fine, including the one called "cable", and my cable tv worked fine. The problem is the light called "data" that is usually constantly flashing is now off completely and I cannot connect to the internet, even though my computer says everything is connected fine. Why won't any data transmit through the modem? I tried unplugging and resetting everything, and I still cannot get any data. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks!

Yeah, I've had cable modems lock-up, too. Sometimes you not only have to undo and reset everything, you actually have to let your system sit powered down for a few minutes so that you are assured of a full reset. Then, sometimes you just have to wait because your modem can take a while to reaquire your IP address. I've had to wait for an hour or more from some ISPs.

Check and see if there is a internet disconnect button or standby button on the modem. If so, press that button and see if that brings back your connectivity.

It makes use of DC (Direct modern), which it converts from AC with an AC adapter (those massive fat plugs). The circuits interior it probably take 5 volts. almost all workstation circuit forums take 5 volts.
