If you are talking about a brand name, there are a lot of comfortable shoes out there. Nike makes some really nice shoes, as does Adidas.

If your are talking about metal, or rubber, it depends on what your league allows. Most amateur leagues have banned the use of metal spikes because of the dangers involved with them. It also depends on a preference. Metal spikes dig into the ground more for better traction on wet fields, but rubber spikes or even turf shoes provide better traction on hard, dry ground.

If you are referring to the length of the spike it depends on the position you play and the type of field. Longer spikes are usually used by outfielders on a soft field. Shorter spikes by infielders unless the infield is a little wet or extremely soft.

Most fields today where I am are made using a mixture of clay and ag-lime which provides for a very sturdy surface for the infield, so short spikes or turf shoes work best.

I hope that answers your question. Remember though, comfort is the most important factor when buying any pair of shoes.

Metal is ideal, but some leagues ban metal spikes. I like Nike's design and comfort, so i'd go to them. The nike hurachi is on sale right now for 58.99 (great shoe) and the nike 5-tool is a nice option as well.

I'm a fan of the Nike mid-tops. I haven't priced them this year, but I got mine about two years ago in that price range. Great shoes -- comfortable, and they lasted all season really well.
