I hate getting static shocks when I go to touch something...or someone.

Get a humidifier or vaporizer.

You need to use a humidifier. Winter heating causes the air inside to dry out which causes the static.

Try getting a humidifier or vapourizer, or if you dont want to buy one then put a small pot of water on your stove and adjust the temperature according to how much steam you want.

could try the anti static spray available to stop clothes clinging.
also saw some where that you can "ground" your room, but I forget where I saw it. Rubber mat to walk on at the door???
