Look around your area. I know where i am tonight they are having a flirt fest for singles to celebrate Valentines Day. And maybe meet someone for next years Valentines Day. Search online and see if you can find anything in your area. That would be a great way to get out of your Valentines slump, which i am very familiar with.

This is actually the first Valentine's day that I am not single but unfortunately I feel completely lonely because of the fact that I have a long distance relationship..even though we are only 3 hours away there's nothing worse than feeling lonely and Only being able to see that person once a month just sucks.

it is all how you view it ; you change your perception to this day, this can be a day that you romance yourself, why do you just deserved to be romanced when you are with someone, don't you just deserve it ; make a great dinner for yourself , have a glass of wine, play your favorite music ; make it a celebration of you until that special someone comes along; people don't like being around depressed people, work on changing your thinking , your approach, before someone else can love you, you have to love yourself, buy a great book , take the me time; inspire yourself , volunteer tonight , buy a cup of coffee for the person behind you in line; there is more to life that just stalling your life until your love comes by ? how will that person know you in this state of mind; you won't attract them to you; be happy today you are alive, love inside your heart, you are healthy and well; romance yourself , pamper yourself, it is okay to spend Valentine's day alone but make it a great one; don't waste a single day of your life b/c you will never get this day to live over again; today celebrate YOU! How wonderful is that - then you will be in the right frame of mind and spirit and when special someone finally finds you!!! Oh by the way, it will happen.

I know that you asked only the lonely hearted to answer, but I had to take time to give you this....
It isn't only the lonely hearted that don't like valentine's day. The way I see it is this is just a day for people to spend big bucks and people judge their gifts by how much money was spent on them. My husband and I don't celebrate this holiday or sweetest day either.

Since I am 15, only once I was alone on V-day. That was 4 years ago. I didn't feel that bad that day because I was together with my sister luckily. I don't how I would feel if I were alone for a few years on valentine's day but I think I would feel as depressed as you because it makes you feel worse when you realise that the world is this much crowded and you haven't found someone yet.

Yes, I have to agree - even though my longing is for a heavenly home. As far as feelings go it is the same; a longing for a soul mate that we were made for. As you note you like being single. I can relate to that too. But we all know that all our choices come with a price.
So, a box of chocolates to you 'ol buddy; and anyone else who may be feeling a little depressed in a confused society on what is a cold and dreary day in my neck of the woods.

I tell myself every year that it's just an over-commercialized holiday for the card companies, but inevitably when the day comes and you spend another night without a special someone it does bring you down.
Try not to think about it and it probably doesn't help setting yourself a deadline to find someone. Like they say, love always comes knocking when you're not expecting it (I've found this to be a lie), but maybe you're trying too hard and expecting too much.
Yep, I'm rather bitter about it.

I totally agree with you! They should make a special day for single people, too!
I haven't turned my TV on because I'm tired of seeing the same commercials over and over about a Teddy-gram and things like that. Thank God tomorrow it will be over!

No, it doesn't seem to bother me anymore. I guess I got it out of my system after I broke up with my last ex. Having a special someone in my life means more stress, so I'm much happier staying single.
