No one said Love is easy and now one said life does not throw people curves - both male and female - questioning one's decisions from time to time. This creating upheaval in relationships. Does anger and abusive acts automatically imply punishment. The dynamics of relating assumes struggle now and then - not always a bed of roses and since we as a race are still trying to figure ourselves out, we are also still trying to understand the dyamics of relating - particularly long term. When the going gets tough - over a period of time - people say "divorce and move on". Isn't this a quick fix for what could turn out to be a speed bump or trouble that could last for awhile but in the long term playout favorably with dedication to the "possible end result" of a good ending in the long term? Even if it can be a one way street at times. We all become the most selfish in times of suffereing - even within a relationship. Selfishness implies some form of abusive acts towards that target.

If I understand you right I'd say "we" have learned from our forefathers/mothers that life is too short to be unhappy and so many of us refuse to live in a relationship where one or both partners want out. With women working and being self-supportive, no longer depending on a man to exist it has opened doors to "quick fixes" instead of years of abuse and/or neglect.

The only time I've seen the divorce and move on line ever, was on yahoo answers. I come from an enviroment full of "keep with the commitment unless..." and there are a few unlesses and abuse is one of them, if and only if the abuser is not willing to change. Seperation for safety is one thing, but clearly divorce is a huge step that should not be taken lightly. Then again when asking for a strangers untrained advice, one should realise said stranger doesn't really care.

Divorce and move on if the person is unfaithful, that's what I say. Otherwise you married for better or worse, and should try and come to an agreement between the couple on how to deal with issues.
