The paint crew is usually the last ones on the job, except for maybe the carpet layers. And since their work is often the first thing that the customer notices, they want it to look right. So they have developed tricks to smooth bumps, fill cracks, hide wrinkles, crooked or out-of-plumb walls, etc.

If you ever need the name of a good contractor, ask a painter to tell you who they don't have to do a lot of fixup work after.

Not sure what you mean, fix other workers mistakes, I assume you mean house painting. Having done some professional painting I have found that the homeowner/business place is in need of paint and there are usually something that needs repaired due to age. Or the homeowner/business had someone else to do the job and they know that it has a bad job and someone is going to need to fix it. Usually whatever was fixed was per homeowner/business request.
