You can get a prescription from your Ob-Gyn; however, it makes you super drowsy, so you can't take it if you have to go to work or have other children to take care of. It worked for me, but it may or may not work for you. My Ob-Gyn said there were three different ones he could put me on. I got the cheapest one, and it worked. Now, there are other things you can try. Dry toast or saltines put by the bedside, so as soon as you wake up, they are easily available to nibble on. Ginger (tea, ale, candied, pills, and pretty much anything ginger) is supposed to work (I hated the taste, and it actually made me more nauseas). Those motion-sickness bands work for some people (Wal-Mart, biobands.com, or other drugstores should carry them). Eating small meals every 2-3 hours instead of just 3 meals a day is supposed to help (I just didn't bother). Also, try to stay away from foods and smells that make you feel queasy. Sour candies or preggo pops from Baby's R Us are also supposed to work. I tried it all except for the meals-thing, and none of them worked for me. I got the prescription, but with this pregnancy, I couldn't do it because I had my son to watch after. I was able to use it after my husband came home from work, though. Also, my sickness lasted 15-weeks with both pregnancies, but my friend had hers til the end. It all depends on the person. Sorry... Good LUCK!!

The best thing I found was ice. Ice cubes, ice lollies - anything. Just suck them!
Also bananas are fantastic for it because of their potassium content. I found ginger biscuits crap.
Listen to your body, it may be craving a particular thing (like I craved ice) and you'll find that will help.
Sea sickness bands (you wear on the wrist) that work on pressure points can be good too - you can get these from a chemist.
If all else fails you could try speaking to your doctor, there is a type of antisickness pills they can give you for morning sickness, yes, but if it's not REALLY BAD then it's really something you just have to live with.

Unless the sickness is so bad that you can't hold anything down at all, the doctors won't prescribe any sort of medication ( think of the thalidamide disaster - that was prescribed for morning sickness ). If it's so bad that you get dehydrated, they will admit you to hospital for treatment. Otherwise, I'm afraid it's a case of living with it for another few weeks. I sympathise totally - I had awful all day sickness with all of my pregnancies ( 4 in total ) but it does fade some time around or shortly after after week 12. I found that nibbling on plain biscuits, eating small regular meals and sucking mints all helped to keep it under control. Make sure you eat a little and often as a drop in blood sugar levels can make the nausea and vomitting worse. Good luck, it will get better soon!

Poor you, miserable isn't it! I found chewing gum (ginger gum is best GNC sell it), all the time helped the first time. Unfortunately sometimes nothing helps. I had HG (hyperemesis gravidarum) in my second and 3rd pregnancies which is a severe form of pregnancy sickness - 24 hours a day every day for 6-7 months both times. Don't worry though this is extremely rare!!! Generally it stops between 12 and 14 weeks. The first time I had this I was given phenergen which helped a little some days but the 2nd time nothing helped and I was hospitalised and put on a drip. I have since learned that acupuncture can be a big help, see your doctor.

The nausea and sickness should all wear off by about 12 weeks, I know that seems like a long way away but this is not really that severe in the scheme of things. However if you really are not comfortable with the sickness, you could speak to your midwife or doctor to see if they can suggest anything. I am not sure that there is any medication they can give you unless you are really ill, any drug you take at this point, could potentially be harmful to the baby xxxx

If you're unable to keep water down get to the doctor as you'll become dehydrated. I find drinking only water helps me, as anything sweet or milky knocks me sick. I've also cut out fried foods, curries and red meat out as these all make me queasy. My midwife advised eating little but every 2 hours, which seems to be working ok, and when I have a really off day, all I can eat is mash potato. They don't tend to give you anything for morning sickness, unless your not keeping anything at all down. You could try one of those bands designed to help with sea sickness. And with a bit of luck the icky stage will be over for you by week 12!

Well congrads on being pregnant! I know its really hard to be sick to much.... but its almost over with! It usually goes away after 12-14 weeks....
The best things I can say to you are to eat a saltine before you get out of bed in the morning, even before you sit up... just to have some stability in your tummy! The doctor can give you a suppository to help you with your morning sickness, I can't promise that it will help, but it might.
Morning sickness is just one of the things that happen with pregnancy! But it will be over with soon, and you will forget in a couple weeks how you are feeling right now. Just remember, this is all for that precious baby thats growing in your belly :) And don't worry that your baby isn't getting enough food, he/she is! Your baby steals from you even if you can't eat :) So selfish already :) hehe kidding....

I hope you get over the morning sickness soon!!!!!!!! Good luck!

for a start those who say morning sickness wears off at 12 weeks are wrong. i am 15 weeks pregnant and still vomitting. try drinking flat ginger ale, sweet tea and eat the blandest of foods ie dry toast, dry crackers etc. hopefully it gets better for you.

Check with your doctor first, but I was told to take a B6 tablet and 1/2 of a Unisom tablet each night before bed... for me they didn't really work though, I had hyperemesis (severe m.s.)... you may want to check out this website: www.hyperemesis.org/ Good luck honey!

It is kind of strange, but in the pharmacy they sell wrist bands that people use against motion sickness. These bands apply pressure to a certain spot that minimizes effects of the morning sickness.
It definately helps a lot!

Also, what helps is eating regularly, in small portions, and of course unconditional love and support from your partner and loved ones!

Hope that helps!!!
