If you have a newer laptop (a couple of years old), some manufactures place a hidden system restore partition on your hardrive. If you go to the manufactures website, go to the support section, and find information on your model number, you can find out if yours has been set up this way.
HP for example, tells you to push F10 at boot up and a system restore menu comes up. This formats your hardrive, and puts it back to the original day of purchase, so back up your important stuff first.
Dell does the same with some of their laptops, and you access the partition by pushing F12
Not all companies do this, so yes, like some of the others are saying, you may have to contact the manufactures support and inquire on a replacement disk.
Good luck!

You can contact your manufacturer. I had this problem with my Gateway laptop. I needed my restoration disk, but it had been lost in the move. In Gateway's case, they charge $20 and resend you all the disks. I figure most major computer manufacturers will probably have the same kind of deal.
