Trust me. I'm from Melbourne and speak to my family every week.

Melbourne is 11 hours ahead at this time of year.

Easiest way to remember this is to subtract 1 hour and swap the AM/PM

If it's 9.30am here in London, then it's 8.30am in Melbourne

Melbourne is on eastern Standard time which is normally UTC + 10. The UK is on UTC.

Currently, until 25 March, Melbourne has daylight saving so it is UTC + 11. When the UK goes onto daylight saving, Melbourne will not be so it will be UTC + 9.

Melbourne is 11 hours ahead (right now). Trust me, the others have got it wrong.

Lets clear this up once and for all. Based on GMT/UTC, ignoring UK daylight saving :

Perth is normally +8, currently goes to +9 for 'daylight saving'
Adelaide is +9.5 and goes to +10.5 DST
Melbourne, Hobart and Sydney are + 10 and go to +11 for DST
Brisbane is +10 and smart enough not to have DST
Darwin is +9.5 and also does not have DST
