First I have to qualify that all printers and manufacturers have their own merit and that any printer you get should perform satisfactorily for you. They all have their good points and bad points. You will always have people with situations with a particular brands or models.
HP is the brand that seems to have the least amount of problems. I would recommend stepping up to one of their newer and better units. A nice All-in-one that prints, scans, and copies is the photosmart 5180 which has individual ink cartridges. This will do an exceptional job on documents and photos. This system seems to do a very nice job of ink management which will save you money in the long run.
Epson and Canon also make fine unis. They do seem to use more ink, especially in regeneration. They will need to use more ink when cleaning the heads after sitting for a while.
I have nothing against Lexmark, but they are probably the least known of the manufacturers. I have not been impressed by or had particular problems with their units.
Remember.... the printers are almost throw-aways. They make their money on the replacement cartridges. I do recommend using the Original Manufacturers Cartridges.... You will be happier in the long run.
Good Luck

I have had two Lexmarks, and both of them had problems with the Black ink not printing properly after a while. and they were more than halfway full. so, I guess I would go with the HP

Ho is the better of the twom but these days printers are a throw away item, so either is okay, and in a year or two, another better cheaper and faster one will be on the market.

i'd bypass with the Samsung. cost in line with click - the samsung is going to be more low priced to run (exceptionally in case you bypass with the better volume B toner cartridge) imagine of it this kind, the severe volume toner for the HP is about $one hundred and prints 2,three hundred pages. The severe voume toner for the Samsung is about $one hundred and prints 5,000 pages. Samsung also makes a very impressive, quiet quick printer. bypass with the samsung.

HP last of all!
Epson first, damn good printers.
Lexmark OK but cartridges are expensive.
Canon good and cheap ink.
Still like Epson the best.
