Well depending on your age....

If you are young, less than 35 you can use a low dose birth control pill to help with heavy bleeding and cramps as well.

If you are older, you could be starting to go through menopause.

Also, if you are sure that you do not want any children, then there is a procedure thay your gyn can do. Its relatively new. They use a cathetor with a deflaed balloon on the end. It is threaded up through the cervix. Once it is in place, then they fill it with very hot water/saline. It causes the lining of the uterus to thin. This in turn causes your periods to be much lighter and more comfortable.

BUT, after this procedure is done, you will NO longer be able to carry a child.

Go to your Gyn and talk to him/her about your options. Im just passing along information that I was given for the same reasons. I have horrid cramps and very heavy flow. But I still would like to have another child with my new husband.

Anyway, goodluck.

I used to have terrible ones that would leave me almost fainting. I stay home, use the heating pad or soak in a HOT bath and take 3 ibuprofin or 2 aleve per 6 hours when it gets really bad.

some woman bleed heavier than anyone. all women are different, all our bodies react different to our periods. not 1 of us are the same. Just like snowflakes.
I have never heard of any complications due to heavy periods. I bleed heavily the first 2 days of my period and then i slow down.
