the larynx is the voice box,it is covered by epiglottis when we swallow to prevent food from going down the trachea. Without the larynx, one can't make a sound. i think the only solution is for doctors to install an artificial device which can help one to produce sound and to prevent food going down the trachea.

First of all,the "pharynx" is the tube where food is swallowed, not the larynx. The larynx is the voicebox where sound is produces so I guess without it,one would be dumb. The larynx also closes during swallowing of food to prevent any going down the trachea and into the lungs.

I don't think it can. The larynx is a pretty important part of the body.

no larynx, no way to swallow food...so the person will probably have to have a G-tube inserted and live on a liquid diet.
