Elijah is awesome because it uses an abbreviated form of God's personal name, Jehovah- Jah. I really like Elliott too, although you might not like that it reminds me of the boy in ET. He was sweet, it's a good association! I can't pick one for you, but I'll tell you I like them both as strong, masculine, and associate them with intelligence, sensitivity, and mischievousness! :)

I love the name Elijah. Elliott sounds too much like a last name to me. I just cant picture a baby or little boy named that. Plus, I wouldnt think that there would be an easy nickname for that name. Whereas Elijah can instantly be broke down to Eli

I like Elijah better. I associate the name with a very interesting Biblical character.
Everytime I hear Elliott, I think of Pete's Dragon.

Elliott is way better - sounds a little more cute for a kid, but somehow more sophisticated as an adult.
I think of Elliot Smith, who was an amazing singer, as well as the little boy from E.T....It has an interesting boyish/mannish connotation for me.
Elijah is probably more popular, and while still an okay name, will have lost some of it's charm when half the boys in his class have that name.

I prefer Elijah to Elliott.
Elijah reminds me of the actor, Elijah Wood. (I think that's his last name anyway.) But I like the name.
Elliott reminds me of Epcot Center (ElliotT, EpcoT) or the little kid from E.T. Think of how people could make fun of him all the time, sticking their fingers out and saying "Ell-eeee-ottttt." Also, I don't like names that end in "t" because some people will pronouce the "t" annoyingly ("EllioTT") while others won't pronounce it at all. I think I dislike this name more every time I think of it.

When I think of Elijah I think of a beautiful little baby boy that will grow up into a good man. It's a strong name, one that will sound good through out his whole life.
I've always liked Elijah James for a name. Just a suggestion.
